Water Bristly Blackberry regularly, especially during dry periods and when establishing. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant.

Deep watering is more beneficial than frequent shallow watering to encourage strong root growth.

Prune Bristly Blackberry annually to manage growth and improve fruit yield. Remove old floricanes (canes that have fruited) in late winter or early spring.

Thin out weak or overcrowded primocanes (current year's growth) to improve air circulation and light penetration.

Propagate Bristly Blackberry by tip layering, where a long cane is bent down and its tip buried in the soil to root.

It can also be propagated by root cuttings taken in late winter or early spring, or by division of the root ball. Seed propagation is possible but may not result in true-to-type plants.

Repotting is generally not applicable for mature, in-ground Rubus setosus. For container-grown specimens, repot every 2-3 years in early spring before new growth emerges.

Choose a pot at least 10-15 cm larger in diameter and use a well-draining potting mix.
