Water Namaqua Porkbush sparingly. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot. In winter, reduce watering significantly, as the plant enters a period of dormancy.

Prune Namaqua Porkbush to maintain shape and size. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best in spring before new growth begins.

This encourages denser growth.

Propagate Portulacaria namaquensis from stem cuttings. Take cuttings of 5-10 cm length in spring or summer. Allow the cut end to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil.

Roots will form within a few weeks.

Repot Namaqua Porkbush every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one. Repot in spring.
