Water Sawtooth Oak regularly during its establishment phase, especially during dry spells. Once mature, it is quite drought-tolerant.

Aim for deep watering, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings to encourage strong root development and prevent waterlogged conditions.

Prune Sawtooth Oak to establish a strong central leader and well-spaced scaffold branches when young. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches at any time.

For mature trees, prune to maintain shape, improve structure, and enhance acorn production if desired. Best done in late winter during dormancy.

Sawtooth Oak can be propagated from acorns, which should be collected when ripe in the fall. Stratify seeds by exposing them to a period of cold and moisture to break dormancy.

Sow stratified seeds in a well-draining medium in spring. Grafting is also a viable method for specific cultivars.

Repotting is generally not applicable to established Sawtooth Oak trees as they are large, long-lived woody perennials.

For young saplings started from seed or purchased from nurseries, repotting may be necessary every 1-2 years to facilitate root development and prevent root circling. Use a larger container with good drainage.
