Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. This is primarily to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged branches, and improve air circulation.

For best berry production on female plants, prune lightly to encourage flowering and fruiting wood. Avoid heavy pruning which can reduce berry yield.

Easily propagated from softwood cuttings taken in early summer. Dip cuttings in rooting hormone and plant in a moist, well-draining medium.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown in autumn in a cold frame, requiring a period of stratification. Layering is also an effective method for increasing plants.
