Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot.

In its natural arid habitat, it stores water in its succulent leaves and stems, so it can tolerate periods of drought. Reduce watering significantly during its dormant winter period.

Prune to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove spent flower stalks to direct energy back into the plant. Lightly trim leggy stems at any time of year to maintain a compact form.

Propagation from cuttings is an excellent way to utilize pruned material and propagate new plants.

Easily propagated from stem or leaf cuttings. Allow cuttings to dry and callous over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil. They root readily in spring and summer.

Seed propagation is also possible but requires specific conditions and patience for germination and growth.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a fast-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current root ball.

Repotting is best done in spring before the active growing season begins.
