Propagation is typically done from seeds sown in spring or from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Seeds may require stratification. Cuttings should be rooted in a well-draining medium under humid conditions.

Genista lydia generally thrives in well-drained soil and does not require frequent repotting. If repotting is necessary, do so in spring before new growth begins.
