Arctic Butterbur prefers consistently moist soil. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to prevent the foliage from wilting. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in the dormant season, but do not let the soil dry out completely.

Pruning is primarily for aesthetic control and to manage its vigorous spread. Remove any dead, damaged, or yellowing leaves as they appear. Cut back any overgrown stems to maintain the desired shape and size.

Pruning can also be done after flowering to tidy up the plant.

Propagation is most easily achieved through division of rhizomes.

In early spring, before new growth emerges, carefully dig up the plant and separate the fleshy rhizomes into smaller sections, ensuring each piece has at least one bud.

Replant these divisions immediately into well-prepared soil.

As Petasites frigidus is a vigorous spreader, repotting is usually more about dividing and replanting it in suitable garden locations rather than container management. If grown in a large container, repot every 2-3 years in spring to refresh the soil and manage its size, dividing as needed.
