Adansonia gregorii is highly drought-tolerant, adapted to arid environments. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

In its native habitat, it rarely receives supplemental water. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot, so err on the side of caution.

Pruning is generally not necessary for Adansonia gregorii, as it naturally develops a distinctive caudiciform shape. If any branches are dead, damaged, or crossing, they can be removed.

Pruning should be done sparingly and during the active growing season to minimize stress on the plant.

Propagation is best achieved through seeds. Scarify the seeds by nicking the hard seed coat or soaking them in warm water for 24 hours to improve germination rates. Sow in a well-draining, sandy medium.

Germination can be erratic and may take several weeks to months. Cuttings are difficult to root.

Adansonia gregorii, especially when young, benefits from repotting every 2-3 years into a slightly larger container with excellent drainage. Use a gritty, free-draining potting mix.

Allow the soil to dry out thoroughly before repotting. Mature specimens can be left in their pots for extended periods.
