Water regularly during dry spells, especially when young. Tatarian honeysuckle prefers consistent moisture but can tolerate some drought once established. Avoid waterlogging the soil, as this can lead to root rot.

Deep watering is more beneficial than frequent shallow watering.

Prune after flowering to shape the plant and remove any dead or crossing branches. Heavy pruning can be done in late winter or early spring to rejuvenate overgrown plants.

This encourages bushier growth and more abundant blooms in the following season. Remove suckers from the base.

Easily propagated from softwood cuttings taken in early summer. Semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn also work well. Seeds can be sown in autumn or stratified and sown in spring.

Division of suckering plants is another viable method.

Repotting is generally not necessary for Tatarian honeysuckle unless it is in a container and becoming root-bound. If repotting is required, do so in early spring before new growth begins.

Use a well-draining potting mix. Ensure the new container is only slightly larger than the original.
