Water Agapanthus regularly during the growing season, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering significantly in autumn and winter, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot and encourage dormancy.

Deadhead spent flower stalks to encourage further blooming and maintain a tidy appearance. After flowering, cut back the faded flower stalks to the base of the plant.

In late autumn or early spring, remove any dead or damaged foliage to promote healthy new growth.

Agapanthus can be propagated by dividing established clumps in early spring. Carefully separate the rhizomes, ensuring each section has at least one bud. Replant them immediately in well-draining soil.

Seeds can also be sown, but flowering may take several years.

Repot Agapanthus every 3-5 years, or when the plant becomes pot-bound, ideally in early spring. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one, as they prefer being slightly constricted.

Ensure good drainage and use a free-draining compost mix.
