Lagos mahogany prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly during cooler, dormant periods, but do not allow the soil to dry out completely.

Pruning is mainly for shaping and removing dead or damaged branches. Light pruning can be done anytime. For shaping, do it in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove any crossing or weak branches to promote good air circulation and structure.

Lagos mahogany can be propagated from seeds, which require stratification before sowing. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer.

Use a rooting hormone to improve success rates and maintain high humidity around the cuttings until roots develop.

Young plants benefit from repotting every 1-2 years in spring. Mature trees are generally root-bound in their pots and may not require frequent repotting.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid overwatering issues.
