Reduce watering significantly during winter dormancy, providing only enough to prevent complete desiccation.

Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged stems, or to control size. Use a clean, sharp knife or shears. The sap is irritating, so wear gloves and eye protection.

Seal cuts with charcoal powder to prevent infection.

Propagate from stem cuttings. Cut a healthy stem, allow the cut end to callus over for a few days, then plant it in well-draining soil. Rooting typically occurs within a few weeks to months.
