In aquatic settings, ensure it is submerged or its roots are constantly in water. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, especially during active growth.

Pruning is essential to manage the aggressive growth of alligatorweed and prevent it from becoming invasive. Regularly trim back stems to maintain desired size and shape.

Remove any flowering stalks to prevent seed production. Pruned material should be disposed of carefully to avoid unintended spread.

Alligatorweed is easily propagated from stem cuttings. Simply take sections of stem, at least 10 cm long, and place them in water or moist soil. Roots will form readily from the nodes.
