Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of rot. In winter, reduce watering significantly to mimic its natural dormancy period.

Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogged roots, which can be detrimental to this succulent.

Prune to remove dead or damaged leaves and to maintain shape. Use a clean, sharp knife or scissors. This also helps prevent potential disease spread. If offsets become too crowded, they can be removed during repotting.

Propagate from offsets (pups) that grow at the base of the mother plant. Carefully detach a mature offset with roots using a clean knife.

Allow the cut end to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Choose a pot slightly larger than the current one, ensuring it has drainage holes. Repot in spring or early summer.
