Water consistently, especially during dry spells. Ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so good drainage is crucial.

Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage further blooming and prevent self-seeding. Cut back the plant to the ground after it has finished flowering in late autumn or early winter to tidy the garden and prevent disease.
