Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Alpine Lady's-mantle prefers consistently moist soil, especially during warmer months. Water regularly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.
In drier climates, more frequent watering may be necessary to maintain optimal moisture levels.
Prune Alpine Lady's-mantle after flowering to maintain a tidy appearance and prevent excessive self-seeding. Remove spent flower stalks and any damaged or dead foliage.
Light trimming can also be done in early spring to shape the plant and encourage new growth.
Alpine Lady's-mantle is easily propagated by division in early spring or autumn. Carefully dig up the plant and divide the root ball into sections, ensuring each section has healthy roots and shoots.
Replant the divisions immediately into well-draining soil.
Repotting is typically not a frequent requirement for Alpine Lady's-mantle as it prefers to be slightly crowded.
If the plant outgrows its container or the soil becomes depleted, repot in spring into a slightly larger pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix. Ensure good drainage holes.
