Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings.

Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant.

Prune after flowering in late summer or early autumn to maintain a tidy shape and encourage dense growth. Remove dead or faded flowers and any weak or damaged stems. This also prevents self-seeding if unwanted.

Easily propagated from seed sown in autumn or early spring, or from cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Seeds may benefit from a period of cold stratification.

Cuttings should be rooted in well-draining compost.

Repot in spring before new growth begins if the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and use a well-draining compost mix, such as loam-based compost with added grit.

Ensure good drainage holes.
