Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Allow excess water to drain completely to prevent root rot. Reduce watering frequency during cooler months, but do not let the soil dry out completely.

Overwatering is a common cause of problems.

Prune to maintain desired shape and size, and to remove any dead or damaged stems. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best performed in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
