Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering frequency during cooler months to prevent root rot.

Ensure good drainage in the pot.

Prune to maintain shape and remove any dead or damaged foliage. Pinch back new growth to encourage a bushier habit.

This can be done as needed throughout the year, but major pruning is best avoided during active flowering.

Propagate primarily through division of rhizomes during repotting. Carefully separate mature rhizomes with at least one bud and plant them in suitable potting mix.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown but are less common for home propagation.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, preferably one formulated for tropical plants. Repotting is best done in spring, just as new growth begins.
