Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water consistently during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter, providing just enough to prevent the soil from becoming completely dry.
Ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogged roots, which can lead to root rot.
Prune after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and encourage a second bloom. Cut back flowering stems by about one-third to one-half.
Remove any dead or damaged foliage at any time of year to keep the plant looking its best and prevent disease.
Propagate by division in early spring or autumn. Carefully lift the plant and divide the root ball into sections, ensuring each division has roots and shoots.
Alternatively, softwood cuttings can be taken in late spring or early summer and rooted in moist potting mix.
Repot established plants every 2-3 years in early spring before new growth begins. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of potting soil, perlite, and sand.
Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current root ball to avoid overwatering.
