Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water consistently, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering frequency during the cooler, dormant months to prevent root rot.
Ensure good drainage to avoid standing water.
Prune to maintain desired shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches.
Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. This encourages bushier growth.
Propagate from seeds, which germinate best after scarification or soaking in warm water. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer.
Ensure cuttings have at least two nodes and use rooting hormone for better success. Keep them in a warm, humid environment.
Repot your Monkey-pod every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid overwatering issues.
Repotting is best done in spring.
