Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter, providing just enough to prevent the soil from becoming completely dry.
Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure good drainage.
Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage more blooms and maintain a tidy appearance. Lightly prune in spring to shape the plant and remove any dead or damaged stems.
Pinching back young plants can promote bushier growth.
Propagate from seed sown in spring or early summer, or from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer. Seeds germinate best with light warmth and consistent moisture. Cuttings root readily in well-draining potting mix.
Repot annually or when the plant becomes root-bound, preferably in early spring. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of peat, sand, and loam.
Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excessive moisture retention.
