Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter, providing just enough to keep the soil from becoming bone dry.
Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Prune to shape and maintain desired size, typically in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Pinch back new growth to encourage bushier development.
Use clean, sharp tools for best results.
Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late spring or summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in a well-draining potting mix. Maintain high humidity and warmth until roots develop.
This method is effective for creating new plants.
Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix. Repot in spring before active growth commences.
This ensures adequate space for root development.
