Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. In hotter, drier periods, increase watering frequency.

Reduce watering in cooler months when the plant's growth slows.

Prune to shape the plant and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove suckers from the base.

Propagate from seeds sown in spring or from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Seeds may require stratification.

Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and kept in a warm, humid environment until established.
