Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water Artemisia gorgonum moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter to prevent root rot.
Ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogged conditions, as this plant is drought-tolerant once established.
Prune Artemisia gorgonum in early spring to shape the plant and remove any dead or damaged stems from winter. Pinch back new growth occasionally to encourage a bushier habit.
Heavy pruning can be done after flowering to maintain size and vigor, typically in late summer or early autumn.
Propagate Artemisia gorgonum from stem cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Root cuttings in well-draining potting mix, keeping them consistently moist and warm.
Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring, but cuttings often result in a more reliable and faster-growing plant.
Repot Artemisia gorgonum only when necessary, typically every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
Repotting is best done in early spring before new growth begins.
