Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is detrimental, especially during the dormant summer period. In winter, reduce watering significantly to almost none.

Remove spent flower stalks after blooming to encourage a tidy appearance and prevent self-seeding if not desired. Any dead or damaged foliage can be trimmed back in late autumn or early spring before new growth emerges.

Minimal pruning is generally required.

Propagate by division of clumps in early spring or autumn. Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring, but germination may be erratic and slow. Cuttings are not a common method for this species.

Repot young plants every 2-3 years, or when pot-bound, typically in early spring. Mature plants can remain in the same pot for several years.

Use a well-draining, gritty compost mix and ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes.
