Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to shape the plant and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. This encourages a more compact and bushy growth habit. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can reduce flowering.

Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Root cuttings in a well-draining, moist potting mix. Alternatively, sow seeds in autumn or spring in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.

Germination can be slow and erratic.

Repot young plants every 2-3 years in spring, or when they become root-bound. Use a good quality, free-draining compost. Older plants can be repotted less frequently, or their top dressing can be replaced annually.
