Impatiens balfouri prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler months, but never let the soil completely dry out.

Pinch back young plants to encourage bushier growth. Remove spent flowers (deadheading) regularly to promote continuous blooming and prevent self-seeding, which can be prolific.

In autumn, prune back leggy stems to maintain a tidy appearance.

Impatiens balfouri is easily propagated from seed, sown indoors in early spring or directly outdoors after the last frost. It also readily self-seeds.

Cuttings can be taken from healthy stems in late spring or early summer and rooted in moist soil or water.

Repot young plants annually or when they become root-bound, typically in spring. Choose a pot slightly larger than the current one with good drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Mature plants can be left in their pots for 2-3 years if space allows.
