Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in fall and winter, providing only enough to keep the soil from becoming bone dry.

Prune to shape the tree and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the tree.

Seeds can be sown in autumn or after stratification. Take semi-hardwood cuttings in summer. Grafting is also a successful method for propagation.

Young trees may benefit from repotting every 2-3 years in spring to refresh soil and check roots. Mature trees are generally transplanted rather than repotted and prefer not to be disturbed once established.
