Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during active growth and flowering. Reduce watering slightly in cooler weather or when the plant is dormant.

Aim to water at the base of the plant to prevent fungal diseases on the foliage.

Prune to remove spent flowers (deadheading) to encourage more blooms and prevent seed formation. If the plant becomes leggy or overgrown, you can cut it back by about one-third to promote bushier growth.

Prune lightly in late spring.

Propagate from seeds sown directly outdoors after the last frost or started indoors a few weeks prior. Seeds germinate readily in warm soil.

Cuttings are less common but can be taken from young, non-flowering stems in late spring or early summer.

Repot young plants as needed, typically annually, when they become root-bound. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Mature plants are often best left in their containers or planted directly in the ground.
