Water consistently to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings.

Reduce watering in winter, but do not let the soil become completely dry. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging.

Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or diseased branches, and improve air circulation. Light pruning can be done anytime, but major pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
