Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage more flowering and prevent self-seeding. Cut back the plants by about one-third in late spring or early summer to promote bushier growth and a second flush of blooms.

Remove any dead or damaged foliage at any time.

Propagate by division in early spring or autumn. Carefully lift the plant and divide the root ball into sections, each with several healthy roots and shoots. Alternatively, sow seeds in autumn or early spring.

Cuttings can also be taken in late spring.

Repot container-grown plants every 2-3 years in spring, or when they become root-bound. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one, with good drainage holes.

Use a well-draining potting mix to ensure adequate aeration for the roots.
