Black-eyed Susans prefer consistently moist soil, especially during dry spells and their first year. Once established, they are quite drought-tolerant but will perform best with regular watering, about 2. 5 cm per week.

Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Water deeply at the base of the plant to encourage strong root development.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming and prevent excessive self-seeding. In late autumn or early spring, cut back the entire plant to about 15 cm from the ground.
