Water consistently during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in fall and winter.

Drought tolerant once established, but occasional deep watering will encourage better flowering. Avoid waterlogged soil, which can lead to root rot.

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering and maintain a tidy appearance. In late fall or early spring, cut back the plant by about half its height to promote new growth and prevent legginess.

This also helps to revitalize the plant.

Propagate by division of established clumps in early spring or fall. Seeds can also be sown in spring, either indoors several weeks before the last frost or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.

Seedlings may not come true to parent.

Repot container-grown plants every 2-3 years in spring as needed. Choose a pot with good drainage and use a well-draining potting mix. Avoid over-potting; a slightly snug pot can encourage better flowering.

Refresh the soil to provide new nutrients.
