Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water Brahma Kamal moderately during its active growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Reduce watering significantly in winter when the plant is dormant, keeping the soil just barely moist to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogged conditions.
Prune Brahma Kamal primarily to remove dead, damaged, or diseased stems and leaves. Minimal pruning is generally required.
After flowering, you can remove spent flower stalks to encourage new growth and maintain a tidy appearance. Avoid heavy pruning as it can affect subsequent blooms.
Propagate Brahma Kamal through stem cuttings taken in spring or early summer. Select healthy stems, cut them into sections, and allow them to callus for a day or two before planting in well-draining soil.
Rooting can take several weeks, and consistent moisture is key.
Repot Brahma Kamal every 2-3 years, or when it becomes root-bound. The best time for repotting is in early spring before the active growing season begins.
Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a cactus or succulent blend, and choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
