Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly during winter dormancy to prevent root rot.

Ensure good drainage to avoid soggy conditions, especially in containers.

Prune out old, dead, or weak canes after fruiting to encourage new growth. For fruiting varieties, tip back primocanes in late winter or early spring to promote lateral branching and increase fruit yield.

Remove any diseased or damaged canes promptly.

Propagate by division of suckers in late winter or early spring. Root cuttings can also be taken from softwood or semi-hardwood stems during the summer.

Layering is another effective method, where a low-lying stem is bent down and covered with soil to root.

Repot container-grown plants every 2-3 years in early spring before new growth begins. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one, with adequate drainage holes.

Use a well-draining potting mix amended with compost.
