Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot. Reduce watering frequency during winter months when growth slows.

Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogged soil.

Prune to maintain desired shape and size, or to remove yellowed or damaged leaves. Use clean, sharp shears. Light pruning can be done anytime, but major pruning is best in spring before new growth begins.

Remove aerial roots if they become unsightly.

Propagate by stem cuttings or division. For stem cuttings, take a section of stem with at least two nodes, remove lower leaves, and plant in moist potting mix.

For division, carefully separate the plant at the rhizome during repotting.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a peat-based mix with perlite. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one.

Spring is the ideal time for repotting.
