Gingermint prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

In hot weather, you may need to water more frequently to keep the soil evenly damp. Reduce watering slightly during cooler months.

Regular pruning encourages bushier growth and prevents legginess. Pinch back the tips of stems frequently, especially in spring and summer, to promote branching.

Remove any flowering stalks as they appear to direct energy back into leaf production and maintain a more compact form. Prune back hard in late autumn.

Gingermint is easily propagated from stem cuttings. Take 10-15 cm cuttings in spring or summer. Remove the lower leaves and insert the cut end into moist potting mix or water. Roots will form within a few weeks.

Once established, they can be transplanted into their own pots.

Repot gingermint every 1-2 years, or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Repotting is best done in spring before active growth begins. This revitalizes the plant and provides fresh nutrients.
