Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but ensure well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering during cooler, dormant periods.

Overwatering is a common cause of failure.

Prune to shape the tree and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. This can be done after flowering or fruit set. Pruning encourages bushier growth and can help manage the size of the tree in confined spaces.

Propagation is typically done by seeds, which should be sown fresh. Germination can be erratic. Cuttings are more challenging but possible, requiring a warm, humid environment and rooting hormone.

Air layering can also be successful.

Young trees may benefit from repotting every 2-3 years into a slightly larger container, using well-draining potting mix. Mature trees generally prefer to be root-bound and may not require frequent repotting.

Repot in spring.
