Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, as waterlogging is detrimental.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming and prevent self-seeding. Pinch back young plants to promote bushier growth.

If plants become leggy in mid-summer, a more significant trim can rejuvenate them, encouraging a fresh flush of blooms. This practice extends the flowering period significantly.

Calendula is easily propagated from seed. Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring after the last frost, or indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost for earlier blooms. Seeds germinate quickly, usually within 7-14 days.
