Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings.

Reduce watering slightly during cooler, dormant periods, but avoid letting the plant dry out completely.

Prune to maintain shape and size, and to remove any dead or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done at any time. For more significant shaping, prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove any suckers promptly.

Propagate from seeds sown in spring in a warm greenhouse, or by semi-ripe cuttings taken in summer. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and placed in a moist, well-draining medium.

Seed germination can be slow and erratic.

Repot young plants annually in spring. Mature plants can be repotted every 2-3 years or when rootbound. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.
