Tamarix canariensis is highly drought-tolerant once established. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, especially in poorly draining soil.

Reduce watering significantly in winter when the plant is dormant.

Pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

To encourage flowering and maintain shape, you can cut back about one-third of the previous year's growth. Heavy pruning can be done to rejuvenate older plants.

Propagation is most successful from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Insert cuttings into a well-draining potting mix and keep them moist and warm.

Alternatively, seeds can be sown in spring, but propagation by cuttings generally results in plants truer to the parent.

Repot young plants annually or biennially in spring before new growth starts. Mature plants are often best left undisturbed as they dislike root disturbance. Choose a pot with good drainage.
