Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings during cooler months, but never let it become completely dry.

Pruning is minimal for cardamom. Remove any dead, damaged, or yellowing leaves at the base of the plant to maintain health and appearance. You can also trim back leggy growth to encourage a bushier habit.

Avoid heavy pruning as it can stress the plant.

Cardamom is typically propagated by division of rhizomes. Carefully divide mature plants in spring, ensuring each section has roots and at least one growing shoot.

Replant the divisions in fresh, well-draining potting mix. Seeds can be used but are slower and less reliable.
