Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering during dormancy in cooler months. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in containers.

Aim for even moisture, allowing the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Prune to shape the plant and encourage bushier growth, or to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best done after fruiting.

Easily propagated from fresh seeds sown in well-draining soil. Germination can be slow and erratic.

Stem cuttings taken in spring or summer can also be rooted in a moist, well-draining medium, often requiring bottom heat for best results.
