Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in late summer and autumn as the plant enters dormancy.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially during wetter periods.

Remove spent flower stalks after blooming to prevent seed formation and encourage energy redirection back to the bulb. Trim away any yellowing or dead foliage in late autumn or early winter, once it naturally dies back.

Propagate by separating offsets (bulblets) from the parent bulb during dormancy. Replant these immediately into well-draining soil.

Alternatively, collect seeds from mature seed pods and sow them in a cool, moist medium in autumn.

Repot infrequently, ideally every 3-4 years, during the dormant period. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current bulb size and ensure it has excellent drainage holes. Use a well-draining potting mix.
