Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Allow excess water to drain completely to prevent root rot. Reduce watering significantly during the winter dormancy period.

Overwatering is the most common cause of problems for this plant.

Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or spindly stems. Pruning also helps to stimulate bud formation for the following year's blooms.

Use clean, sharp scissors or a knife.

Propagate by taking stem cuttings (segments) in late spring or early summer. Allow the cut end to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining potting mix. Keep the cuttings slightly moist until they root.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound, preferably in spring. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid waterlogged soil.
