Spanish Cedar prefers consistently moist soil, especially when young. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly during cooler months or if the plant is dormant, but do not let the soil become bone dry.

Pruning is primarily for shaping and removing dead or diseased branches. Light pruning can be done anytime. For structural improvement, prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove any crossing or rubbing branches to prevent damage and improve air circulation within the canopy.

Spanish Cedar can be propagated from seeds, which should be sown fresh or after stratification. Semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer can also be rooted under humid conditions with the use of rooting hormone.

Grafting is another method used for specific cultivars, typically performed in late winter.

Young Spanish Cedar trees may need repotting every 2-3 years to accommodate root growth. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one. Repot in spring before the active growing season.

Ensure good drainage in the new pot and use a well-draining potting mix. Water thoroughly after repotting.
