Propagation is primarily through offsets (cormels) that form around the parent corm. Carefully detach these in late summer or early autumn when lifting the bulbs.

Replant the cormels immediately or store them in a cool, dry place until spring planting.

Repotting is generally not required annually as Gladiolus communis are reliably perennial. If overcrowding occurs or bulbs become less vigorous, lift and divide the corms in late summer or early autumn.
