Water thoroughly when the potting medium is nearly dry. Oncidiums prefer their roots to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Use lukewarm, preferably distilled or rainwater, to prevent mineral buildup on the leaves.

Pruning is minimal for Oncidiums. Remove spent flower spikes close to their base once blooming is finished to direct the plant's energy into new growth and pseudobulb development.

Trim any dead or yellowing leaves or roots as needed to maintain plant health and prevent disease.

Oncidiums are primarily propagated through division. When repotting, carefully separate overgrown clumps into smaller sections, ensuring each division has at least three healthy pseudobulbs and some roots.

Allow the cut surfaces to air dry for a day before replanting.

Repot Oncidiums every one to two years, or when the potting medium has decomposed or the plant has outgrown its container. Choose a pot that allows for one to two years of growth.

Fresh orchid bark or a bark-based mix is ideal for providing good drainage and aeration.
