Water regularly during the first year to establish a deep root system. Once established, Common Woolly Sunflower is quite drought-tolerant. Water only when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry.

To encourage bushier growth and more prolific blooming, pinch back young plants. After the main flowering period, deadhead spent blooms to prevent seed production and encourage a second flush of flowers.

Cut back plants in late fall or early spring to remove dead foliage and shape the plant.

Common Woolly Sunflower can be propagated by seed sown in early spring or fall. Alternatively, division of established clumps in spring or fall is an effective method.

Cuttings can also be taken in late spring or early summer and rooted in moist potting mix.

As Eriophyllum lanatum is typically grown as an herbaceous perennial or groundcover, repotting is rarely necessary unless grown in containers. If container-grown, repot every 2-3 years in early spring into a slightly larger pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix.
